COVID-19 Policy

    • We are updating our COVID-19 Health and Safety Policies to implement the changes detailed below beginning

March 1, 2022

. The safety and well being of our students, faculty, and staff remains our primary priority as we continue to transition towards our normal practices. Please see below for an outline of our health and safety guidelines.
  • Masks are OPTIONAL regardless of vaccination status until further notice.

Updated Protocols:

  • Social distancing requirements in classes will be lifted and classes will return to full capacity
  • Curriculum restrictions will be lifted so that partnering and group choreographic options can be integrated back into the syllabus
  • Students are welcome to continue to wear masks during class if they would prefer.* VDT strongly recommends following CDC guidelines surrounding the use of masks for non-vaccinated individuals, for more information on how to protect yourself against the spread of COVID-19 please click the link here.*
  • The front office will be open to parents and guardians for questions. Please adhere to a 5 minute limit.
  • The lobby/waiting area will be closed to parents and guardians of children 5 and up so that students may use the lobby for early arrival, studying, and waiting for pick up. Only one chaperone for students 4 and under, please.
  • Daily health screenings will no longer take place. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor students for any signs of illness and keep them at home when they are ill. Students will not be permitted in the building until they have been fever-free for 24 hours.

Protocols That Remain:

  • Studios will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized every day.
  • Students will be reminded frequently to wash their hands.
  • The lobby will remain closed to parents and guardians. Parents and guardians are encouraged to wait outside or in their vehicles.
  • Parents and guardians are asked to continue to monitor students for any symptoms. If a student does show signs of illness, the student should remain home and observe a recommended quarantine period before returning. Students will not be permitted in the building until they have been fever-free for 24 hours.
  • As we work together to maintain a safe environment, we ask that families report any COVID-19 related exposure or positive test results to Valley Dance Theatre to enhance contact tracing efforts.

We are actively monitoring the changing health climate and reserve the right to update, amend, and change these policies as necessary based on changes in CDC guidelines, the Virginia Department of Health, American Academy of Pediatrics, or any other federal, state, or local mandates related to COVID-19. As we receive updated guidance, we will release updates via email.

We look forward to welcoming our students back! ! If you have any further questions or concerns regarding the COVID-19 Health and Safety guidelines, please email
